Sanctuary is an annual collaborative project between community group Sanctuary VA, and members of The Bowe House letterpress studio.
Research and content for this edition was collected by Richmond journalists from prisoners, some of which are still incarcerated, some now free. The prisoners' original art was then reproduced via screen printing, their writings were hand-set in lead type, accented with other typographic elements, letterpress printed, and bound into a 30-foot long accordion book by senior members of the Bowe House Press.

This edition of 50 books was lovingly produced by hand and has been sold to special collections around the world, with benefits going to Sanctuary VA.
